Wow that's a new one.

I don't think most posters are making things up. It illustrates the very wide variance just inside UA of Pilots and FA when it comes to the seat belt sign and general service levels based on the sampling of the experiences from the frequent UA travelers that visit this forum.
Life is full of risks. There is always a balance that needs to be struck by companies, society, individuals. Turbulence injuries are nothing new. It seems like the industry and passengers have already found a balance.
UA seems to have earned an overall reputation of having lower levels of service and being more cautious with the seat belt sign. Other airlines have different reputations. I'm sure there are many factors that go into this.
If safety were the only factor, then UA should just have FA's stay seated for the entire flight and the seat belt sign should just always remain on. How many people are really choosing UA for their service anyways?
On the other hand, on airlines with very good service reputations, are people getting injured all the time? Based on this thread, there isn't enough data out there.
UA's going to do what they want. Nothing posted here (or sent to them in comments) will make a difference. Like any of the multiple things we dislike about UA, if it's really a big deal, there are often other choices out there.
