Amex in Finland is a case of beggars can’t choose!
Finland is a very small market for anything let alone something as luxurious as a travel focused credit card. Finland has been quite privileged so far to even have Amex offering their Personal cards considering that Amex does not do business in Baltics nor in Denmark(limited) and Iceland. Sweden and Norway where Amex is offering their services are wealthier countries (methinks).
I think Finns having this possibility to get an Amex card is mostly due to closeness to Sweden in terms of operations and Finland being in Euro zone where makes issuing cards easier for Amex.
Regardless of all the perks, just having an Amex card number for anyone frequenting any international hotel chain would be valuable since unlike Visa/MasterCard that need specific pre-authorisation amount to be performed, Amex card validity is enough as a guarantee by any hotel chain. At least that’s been my experience in Hilton, Marriott, etc. Even those hotels that would do a pre-authorisation would not affect an Amex cardholder since credit limits are very high with Amex, and pre authorisations are usually dropped by Amex after 72h.
