I recently spent two nights at the Nagasaki Marriott prior to spending a night at the Hilton Nagasaki. I definitely feel like Nagasaki Marriott is the better of the two hotels, but this also likely has to do with the better bed covers of the Marriott, something that matters a lot to me. Here are my impressions and photos:

Pros:
  • Upgraded from a standard room to a Panorama Suite, which was a lovely full corner suite
  • Bed was great - medium slightly plush mattress, the two soft pillows were easily the best pillows I have slept on in a long time as they were so plush, plush enough bed covers (much better than the thin covers at the Hilton)
  • Shower pressure was good and strong - I used the rainfall head
  • Staff was friendly - met by GM upon arrival, Loyalty Manager came up at club lounge and already knew my name
  • Was able to get requested 2 PM checkout (though, they did an availability check)
  • Lounge evening service has long hours, and I enjoyed the chicken and fish dishes, the desserts, and the Bailey’s
  • Breakfast (only served in restaurant) had good omelets and good croffles with mascarpone cream
  • You get 3000 points for abstaining from mid-stay cleaning outside of towel and water refreshes (these already posted before the stay posted)

Neutral:
  • Breakfast had a wait if you waited past 8 AM (not terrible) but definitely a bit of a capacity problem
  • No afternoon tea offering in lounge with fresh desserts - just packaged snacks

Cons:
  • Breakfast only has drip coffee - no espresso machines that I could find
  • Breakfast potato offerings weren’t great (even hashbrown was cold and a bit soggy)
  • Balcony doors created poor noise isolation to cars and motorcycles on the street and wind gust noises

I would definitely come back.
