Yes, I mentioned two trips
One summer trip to Europe or Asia or South America and one domestic trip to Grandma. That would hardly be unusual for an elite with a family.

Certainty those alone would not be worth $1,500 but they are a nice kicker. From personal experience, Plats can get CPU, as UA reminded me recently I got 6 on >500 mile, <transcon routes,
And a couple IN tickets (lately more available than PZ).
There is value at the Plat level for the right kind of traveler but not for every traveler.
For some Plat has little value but that does not extrapolate to no value to anyone.
All depends on circumstances.
