My assumption is based on family of four, since Gold already covers two, so the calculus would be the break even cost of two additional family members. You need more than one trip.
Yes, the OP has other benefits, more award miles, 40 PP, IN space, but how much are they really worth, with the continued devaluation + fewer and fewer upgrade spaces.
