We just finished a very nice stay here visiting family over the holidays. What started off not great was well-handled by the staff.
We had upgraded to a studio suite (SUA). We were first there at 9AM and the room was, not surprisingly, not ready. We went to the zoo for several hours. When we got back around 3:30, the room was still not ready. The front desk staff gave us a couple of drink certs. mrs. brp got a chai, and I got a glass of wine. The bartender mentioned that these were good for drinks up to $20, but happily waived off the difference for a $22 glass.
I checked back around 4:15, and still not ready. Certainly not great, but the bartender knew about the issue and kept pouring tastes of other wines and even a small shot glass from the excess of an espresso martini he had made.
At about 4:35, someone from the front desk cam to us in the bar, gave us our keys, apologized and said that they were adding points to our account. So, now the best situation, but well-handled. This is the first time in a number of stays where this has happened.
The rest was great. The pool/hot tub are quite nice. Breakfast is good - both the a la carte and the buffet, where I could also get a couple of poached eggs.
An app oddity was that a $40 Suite Upgrade Award fee showed up the first night, I mentioned it and they took it off immediately. It did show up again the next two nights and I waited until the last day to get it fixed. The gentleman there mentioned to the other that this was some "Hyatt routing issue" that they needed to look at.
We also got several emails from hotel managers apologizing for the check-in.
As others have noted, the restaurants at Aventine are gone and the area is somewhat lifeless, but the UTC shopping center is a short walk away, and there are nice running routes in the area. Since we have family in the area, we will certainly stay again.
Cheers.
