Shenzhen to Hong Kong Int Airport
After my enjoyable China trip in Nov 2024, I've booked flights to return in September 2025. Flying with BA to Shanghai and returning from Hong Kong. Originally planning on Shanghai > Beijing > Xi'an > Chendu > Chongqing > Guangzhou> Shenzhen > Hong Kong. all by train, we've realised we're trying to fit too much in, so will now simply fly from Xi'an to Shenzhen. It'll still be a big tour for sure!
I've sorted accommodation for Shanghai and Beijing, from what I learned and will be selecting the Xi'an and Shenzhen accommodation once I familiarise myself more. (Xi'an I know roughly where - just not selected yet.)
So that leaves Shenzhen and location that may be best to decide and chose.
My biggest question (which is minor really) is best wat to get to the airport. We'd decided, we won't up and transfer into HK for the final night. Too much hassle - miss a chunk of exploring time and also it seems HK hotels are not only much more expensive - but the option to book with free cancellation isn't an option. Given its closeness and out outbound flight time being 2300, we have plenty of time to get there.
I had looked at ferry to sky port, but BA is not one of the airlines we can checkin with, so sounds like option removed. (It is also quite expensive for 2 passengers as well!)
So leaves these options to seek advice for.
Coach (which I assume would be a direct transfer from a Shenzhen location to the airport?)
Train / Metro / Express. seems a lot of messing about, especially given we'd need to get to the station first and transfer at each transfer with all luggage.
Taxi all the way. I can see there are thirst party booking possibilities, though quite expensive. Is Didi even a possibility?
Any tips / suggestions on these and also things to be wary of (eg Wehat / Alipay I understand will be different to what we'd have been using in China.)
Long way off yet, but as this option might influence our hotel / apartment choice, its better to find out as much as possible first.
