Sorry to have to ask what I feel I should be able to work out for myself.
My membership year-end has been Feb 8th, giving me extended tier membership to 31st March.
I’ve been gold for 20 years now, but in recent years have tended to requalify every other year (apart from the COVID extension) between 9th Feb and 31st Mar, thus getting my requalification as a GCH for gold for another two years.
I’d already booked my 2024 Feb/Mar requalifying flights before the change was announced. I earned 1500 TPs before 1st April 2024 with (unfortunately) relatively few since.
My (virtual) card says I have Gold status to March 2026.
My question is, how do I requalify for 26-27 and 27-28 using the strategy I’ve used previously?
Flights taken in Mar 26 will no longer qualify for me (nor for anyone else) for the start of a new year, with the 1st April start date for all. Flights taken in April 2026 will give me gold for 26-7 and 27-8 but by April 26 my status will have soft landed to Bronze, having qualified for GCH status two TP periods previously, not in the previous TP period.
My understanding is that my TP qualifying periods are:
Year 1: 9th Feb 24 - 8th Feb 25 (membership extends to 31 Mar 25)
’Year’ 2: 1st April 24 - 31st Mar 25 (membership extends to 30 April 25)
Year 3: 1st April 25 to 31st Mar 26 (membership extends to 30 April 26)
Have I correctly interpreted my effective TP qualifying periods?
If so, why does my current GCH membership extend to 31st Mar 26?
If I up my game and earn 1500 TPs between 1Apr 24 and 31 Mar 25, all I seem to get is an extension of Gold status to 30th April 26 - that is, just one month?
