Apologies if covered but has anyone had trouble getting residual value of a bfb ticket (purchased directly with United) as ffc if exchanged for a lower-value ticket? I tried to do this yesterday and was told by a GS agent - who seemed a bit confused - that I had a “promotional fare” and I “could not use it” on a lower value ticket. I was within 24 hours and so just voided it out rather than fussing (the downside being I have to wait 7-10 days for my etc to come back, at which point bfb will be gone). I asked another GS agent today whether this was a thing with bfb and she seemed to think it was - at least when she read the fare rules (though as discussed elsewhere basically all fare rules have the residual-value-forfeited language, which is routinely ignored for non-TA tix).

I am now feeling skittish about the bfb fares in case they are basically treated like the tickets bought through our work TA where you forfeit the residual value. Interested if anyone else has had this issue?
