If the friend really wants that FTL, it's better idea to fly to Erbil in Jan, which covers 480 out of 650 needed, and then do like a 5 segment intra europe return in J or fly in J to Poland and do a domestic return on the cheap or whatever makes sense (TLV probably isn't the best idea after returning from Erbil).

If you gatin FTL at the beginning of the year, it will be essentially valid for 2 years, as it's to the end of current year and then full next year, plus the 2 months.
