Whilst too late now, by the sounds of it, I'd have moved my points to Avios which get cheaper flights on JAL, and I believe the same availability of CX.

I'm not 100% sure about the release times, but unlike say BA, there is no guarantee that JAL would release seats so early, particularly not in First (I've been struggling to buy cash First tickets in A with RTW tickets myself in advance, the computer says no even with ghost availability there). And if booking 360 days in advance you're hoping to get Christmas tickets I fear you may be disappointed, again, looking for cash seats, I'd noticed JAL blocking all D tickets (discounted business with RTW tickets) over Christmas (this was for 2 weeks around on MEL/SYD-TYO in 2024). So I wouldn't be hopeful on rewards tickets for these peak periods if they won't even sell cheap cash tickets. However, I did a quick look on expert flyer and for December 2025 there are lots of JAL seats showing in both A and D, just not sure if they're bookable?
