For Tokyo specifically, Zipair is a great option if you're willing to pay cash. This spring, I see $1100-$1250 each way in lie flat J from YVR. You just have to know that you're getting the seat and not much else, unless you're willing to pay for it.

Personally I think that is a better deal than 210-250k AS miles on an HA aircraft.
