The best part is that I am actually in Japan right now for my vacation, so hopefully I can go to Narita when I leave and get my details verified. Will keep you guys posted! My application (via category D) submitted on 8/21 also just got the preliminary approval on 12/23. Too late for my recent Japan trip but maybe I will do another before the 6 months limit is up.
