I’m currently staying at this property for the second time. I won’t be returning. At checkin I asked about upgrades and was offered a Deluxe Suite for 200€/night upgrade fee. Last time I stayed, in 2020, I received a free upgrade to a deluxe suite. Now it’s classified as a “premium suite” and the only “standard suite” is the 441 sqft single room “Andaz Suite” which sadly wasn’t available or I would have used a TSU. I declined the 200€ upgrade and went to my room to find it faced other units directly. Seeing “king view” rooms for sale (identically sized rooms, not suites), I asked for one of those and was advised by two check in agents that management had instructed them to not upgrade any globalists at all as too many of their suites were already taken by globalists using TSUs. I was invited to pay 20€ night if I wanted to move to the “king view” room. MHC wasn’t able to do anything but offered to give me some points if I paid the 20€/night fee to not face into apartments.

Other cheapness:
  • As mentioned above, the social hour is gone. I asked if it was still a brand standard and a front desk agent said, “yes, but we’ve discontinued it”. They later gave us one coupon each (for a four-night stay) for beer, wine, or or a soft drink.
  • In line with Andaz brand standards, room descriptions say, “Complimentary minibar with nonalcoholic drinks and snacks.” The only thing minibars now contain is bottles of water and one bottle of a local herbal lemonade soda.
