When using the companion certificate you are unable to select anything that is marked as an UNUSED TICKET. You can only select the items that are marked as ECREDIT.

Hence my dilemma
I was able to use and Unused eTciket and an Ecredit for a companion cert booking just last week. Not sure why you are unable.
