Easy solution: pace somewhere else, away from the gate, so as not to annoy the pesky gate agent. I can't stand a crowded jetbridge either and prefer to board either very early or very late in the boarding process. It's not about the gate agent or getting the flight out on time. It's about avoiding standing idly for several minutes in a crowded jetbridge.
