Virgin Atlantic Intl to Domestic transfer

Arrival was T3 and departure was T1. Same itinerary with VS codeshare in Indigo.

We were told that there should be Indigo customer service after baggage claim to help. We could not find any. After asking in many places, we went outside the terminal and eventually reached an Indigo customer counter at the far end of T3. We were expecting them to take our checked bags - but they refused to help and instead directed us to take the shuttle.

Let’s just say that taking the shuttle with checked bags (>1 per person, we tend to pack a lot of gifts for folks in India when coming) was challenging. The shuttle bus is not configured inside to haul big luggage. The bags will move around and slam into things on curves.

Once we navigated that, the security in T1 won’t let us through without barcode itinerary. You need to go to the indigo ticket counter outside and get that first. IF you make the mistake to think only one of you party will make a run to that counter while others wait with bags and kids, then you will be mistaken. That counter demands to see ID of all adult passengers to give you a friggin’ reprint of your itinerary that you supposedly already have, minus the barcode. After you navigate that, you get to wait in line with all other domestic passengers to check in.

Overall, it took us 4+ hours since arrival to reach airside on T1. Good thing that we had a 5+ hour connection. The human beings working the process ALL seemed extremely helpful, but that does not alleviate how bad the process was.

I see the survey request from Virgin in my mailbox. After I return back, my feedback to Virgin will be to educate all codeshare transfer passengers exactly what it entails to do a T3-T1 transfer in DEL. It is just like if you do a JFK to LGA, or LHR to Gatwick transfer.
