Turns out that they do distribute water, but to elites only. They give you a card that you have to show at the shop and they will dispense 2 bottles a day.. That seems clumsy and annoying as you don't normally pass the shop between the room and the parking lot.
Yes, I’m ok with no water due to the waste and the fact that an existing water bottle filled at the tap suffices. As far as I know, the water from the tap does not regularly get “used up.”
And I never said that poor housekeeping is ok. I just said that I don’t care about it since we don’t use it.
Also, as we walked out of our room this morning, with the DND sign on the knob, a housekeeping person was nearby and confirmed that we did not want service. So, the poor housekeeping seems not to be systematic.
And the advantages of a hotel over AirBnB extend beyond water bottles and housekeeping for us.
