Upon checkin HA was asking for $30/bag each. So... I cancelled one of the tickets and bought a ticket on HA metal.
So, we now have pax on AS codeshare and HA metal with the exact same HA/AS status, and bags to check all around. Will report back, but I expect all the bags will end up checked on my record--will also be curious if I actually get five free (3 for Pualani Platinum + 2 for using the HA Mastercard) or just the three the web checkin seems to allow. So far, the HA ticket was able to get comp extra comfort seats and on the upgrade list for F, the AS ticket has regular coach seats and is being charged for anything else.
Pretty much as I would expect...my guess is that airport check-in agents would likely waive the baggage fees for AS elites but it is annoying to not be able to know for sure.
