If you change passport on the profile, and your next trip is longhaul, then BA likes to see your passport to ensure the numbers / dates are correct. I think that features in the "Why Can't I Check-in?" thread. It's once off for that, and then you have 9 and a bit years without it. There is also a random "security check" thing, which I know to exist but don't have enough information on how it is triggered, I think Silvers and Golds get a bypass on this. And then there is just BA IT which explains anything you want really. But so long as you have an ESTA and it's linked to your valid passport, it should all be fine. I'm not sure a LHR kiosk would work, so maybe go to a staffed desk first.
