Whether on a plane, in a theatre, at a restaurant - or just about anywhere …. Phone should generally be in silent mode (vibrate) anyway. I get that some people carry phone in bags, and thus the ring is more necessary. But for God’s sake, make the ring tone something other than an obnoxious sound.
