Do people no longer put their phones in airplane mode, and silence/vibrate ringers nowadays? Clearly not, as on many flights, beeps of incoming texts can be heard when the aircraft is nearing landing.

Also, invest in a headphone/wireless set. No one wants to hear loud noise coming out of your phone/tablet. Have a backup just in case you forget your primary at home; those free ones they hand out are not only terrible at noise blocking, the sound quality is terrible.
