I did try to call them. They said they couldn't see the negative point balance. I can see it in my app though. They said the the negative points from return would automatically be deducted from from air canada account but I haven't seen that deduction coming through. I have plenty of points in my AC account.
I don't believe Chase has access to your AC acct & therefore can't add or deduct miles. All they can do is show a negative balance on your UR acct. They could also ban you if you end up with a negative UR balance. I wouldn't take the chance by closing the card now. Keep spending until your UR balance gets back in positive territory. My 2 cents worth.
