It is possible but getting an agent that knows how to do it will be tough. Many agents will erroneously claim that you cannot make any changes to award tickets or that you'll have to cancel everything and start over, etc. You will probably have to HUCA several times.
Also, if your JFK-HND-BKK was booked as married segments then disregard the above, it's generally not possible to make any changes in those cases.
