Boarding was quite a calm affair due to a light load in the Main Cabin, so the FAs were quick to offer PDBs of pre-poured water, orange juice or champagne from a tray. My request for sparkling water was promptly delivered. I do think it's time AA stopped using plastic glasses for PDBs, at least on international flights. Dinner orders were taken before pushback (just for main courses, as there was no choice of starter), and preferences for being woken for breakfast were also noted.

After takeoff, service commenced with a bar service from the trolley (accompanied by warm nuts).

No sooner had the bar service been delivered than dinner trays were being handed out from a second trolley. The trays were nicely set up with the pan seared shrimp starter, arugula salad and my chosen main course of smoked beef brisket. A choice of bread was offered from a basket. Further drinks were offered during the meal from the trolley. Whilst both of the salads were forgettable, the beef was really quite good and still a little pink, even if the presentation gave the impression the dish had been cremated.

Oddly the dinner trays all came pre-set with a chocolate, although desserts were offered separately (hand run from the galley) once the dinner trays had been collected. My traditional ice cream sundae with everything except the seasonal berry topping was a great end to a decent dinner. I had to remind the FA to bring my requested green tea.

I had planned to skip breakfast, but ended up waking in time to take the cold option of the fresh fruit bowl; this was really quite decent and certainly more substantial than what many competitor airlines would offer on an equivalent length flight. The sachet of jam as opposed to a glass jar did look a little cheap, however.

As a side note, I'm impressed that AA now offer slippers in Flagship Business International. Made by Nest Bedding, these are pretty substantial and of decent quality.
