A free choice of PDB on this 787-8 down to MIA, on what was the Captain's final flight after 34 years' service. Hot towels made the rounds straight after takeoff, shortly followed by a bar service with warm nuts (my choice that afternoon was a gin and tonic).
Chicken enchiladas or pesto pasta salad were the options for dinner (as described by the crew); the former was filling in a microwave meal kind of way. The accompanying salad was colourful if basic, and the cheesecake pretty decent.
Drinks top-ups were offered throughout the flight.

Despite a late pushback, only water was offered as a PDB. Hot towels were distributed after takeoff, followed by a bar service accompanied by warm nuts. My requested gin and tonic came as a double proactively, although my sparkling water turned out to be soda water. This briefly puzzled me before I remembered that AA doesn't stock proper sparkling water on domestic flights.
Dinner options were described by the crew as 'chicken or quinoa salad'; the former was filling but ultimately unremarkable. The prawn side salad was weak, as was the nondescript cake for dessert.
Checks through the cabin were performed during the remainder of the flight by one of the two FAs assigned to F; the other remained seated in the galley for much of the flight.
