I don't get the allure of the hotel. I'm on my 2nd of 7 nights here and its just OK.

Check-in was nice- there is a great private check-in area, and the process was quick and efficient.

I booked the base room and was upgraded to ocean view room in the Cliff building. Like others have said the room is quite spacious, but the bed is small, this certainly is not a King sized bed. The fan/AC is quite noisy. There is no stocked minibar, which seems to be a trend in Bali, although you can "order a minibar" in which you prepay for some items to be stocked. There is also no 24/7 market too, so if you impulsively want something room-service is the only option. In my opinion this defats the purpose of a minibar - its for when I find myself in my room and spontaneously crave a coke! I guess GoJek it is because I'm not paying 62k++ for a coke I can have from GoJek for 5k.

At breakfast this morning we arrived at 10AM had to wait 15 minutes for a table as all tables were full or dirty. Once we got in the buffet style items were all picked over and nothing but scraps. The made-to-order items had huge queues. We were each able to get one dish before they started shutting down. They have a sign displayed about busy times at breakfast and the sign indicates 10AM is not busy. They're clearly understaffed and unprepared for the current occupancy.

It was a similar story at the lounge last night. Arrived at 5:45PM and there was no indoor seating available, only outdoor, which is miserable given the season, plus the mosquitos. The service was mediocre. They didn't bring me a menu so I needed to flag someone down, and they went randomly from table to table without regard of seating order. It took 25 minutes to receive my drink. The food was also well picked over. The protein ran out at 6:10 and was not refilled. I tried the lounge again tonight, arriving this time at 4:50PM, and when I arrived there was already a queue of 10 or 15 people in front of the food. They couldn't keep up with the food again tonight, and the random drink service continued. I had to flag down the waitress anytime I wanted a refill- its the opposite experience of other hotels in the region where I have to tell them to slow down the pours. Also the dress code seems not to be enforced- there were plenty of tank-tops, sleeveless shirts, slippers, and sportswear both nights.

I had a massage today at the spa. The massage therapist was fantastic, however the location of the spa is questionable. Its right next to the beach bar, pool, and football pitch so there is never ending noise. The bass from the music at Breeze and construction they're doing on the beach made it impossible to relax.

I've seen references in reviews to one cocktail rather than 'cocktails' (the room rate description for an executive room also refers to 'evening cocktail'). Can somebody please confirm if there really is only one cocktail offered or if more are included.
25% off at The Shore - nothing else. Lounge provides multiple cocktails, assuming you can get the attention of the waitstaff.
