my sister is in premium economy from BOM to FRA on 12/22 and I’ve waitlisted her for Business with my PlusPoints. The flight is J4 right now which is cutting it real close, but I don’t know Lufthansa’s upgrade patterns. If she were to get upgraded, when is the latest Lufthansa would process it? In my 2 experiences, I’ve heard back from LH no less than 3 days before departure but we are at that point now so not sure what happens beyond this.Thanks for any insights!
Upgrade update and data point time. Ticketed cabin context above ^. She was booked in LH E-fare class.
So the flight oscillated between J2 and J1 for the entire day before the flight. It was J1 when my sister arrived at the airport. At check in, the desk took her passport, and without her even asking, they acknowledged that she was waitlisted for business. The desk agent called a supervisor, again without prompt, and then told my sister they cannot do anything at the check in counter and that she’d have to try again at the gate.
So after hanging out in the lounge for a bit she went to the gate about 20 minutes before boarding and asked them again to check on the upgrade. An agent said that they still saw her on the waitlist but that the cabin was full so they couldn’t do anything. This made no sense to me as EF still showed J1 and I could go to LH website and buy that last seat if I really wanted to. So I told her to find the agent that did her check in, and that agent told her the same thing.
Eventually boarding began and when she scanned her premium economy boarding pass, there was an error with her boarding pass, and the error was resolved with the system issuing her a new boarding pass with her business class seat.
First for me for lufthansa battlefield upgrades.
