At T-3/4 hours does the check in desk staff/gate agents have power to flush the waitlist to fill seats like United and Lufthansa agents do for any passengers still sitting on the waitlist? Thanks!

Edit: just read the 15-20 threads above mine and it seems the common theme is that if it doesn’t clear at 24 it is looking unlikely. I’m surprised they don’t have a waitlist going all the way to the gate and just fill seats. If they think they can sell more seats; they are more than welcome to try at check in counters for those that want, and if there’s still seats open before boarding they should fill the seats.
