Yes, comp Medallion upgrades to D1 count. You do realize that only the domestic D1 routes are eligible for comp Medallion upgrades and the chances are fairly slim?
An example of the slim is on the JFK-SFO I used a RUC for, I was surprised (and saddened bit) to see that all comp upgrades cleared the morning of. 2 standbys, one of which was an AA FA in uniform cleared at the gate and the cabin went out with 6 empty seats 😭. This was a Sat evening flight
