I’ve just been upgraded to Gold Medallion status through a status match. I have a US domestic flight coming up and want to fly Delta to take full advantage of my newly minted status. I will need to check a bag, but am I right in assuming that I can just book a cheap hand baggage only fare and still check my bag in for free at the airport? It seems that’s how it works, but I just want to be sure…
