I’m debating on whether to use miles to upgrade to Delta One or to apply a GUC which would get me to premium and waitlist me for Delta One. I’m based in Atlanta but booked a flight out of JFK to LHR (Atl pricing was ridiculous). I paid $697 for economy. I can rebook in PS on the outbound flight for $507 which would allow me to apply my GUC for immediate clearance into D1, or apply my GUC from main and get upgraded to PS and waitlisted for D1, or pay 80,000 miles to upgrade to D1. I’d prefer to hold my GUCs for longer routes although I don’t have any long routes booked at the moment. I’ll add that my flight is on 12/31 at 11 PM and there’s plenty of D1 availability. The aircraft is the 767-400. I have 3 GUCs and will likely use 2 on the return flight if GUC availability changes (talked to a delta agent that indicated there wasn’t availability currently) - I’m traveling with a friend and we’re booked on Virgin’s A350 - 1000. Any thoughts?
So is the 80,000 mile number to upgrade an online seat upgrade offer showing on seatmap, or something the agent quoted you (a Mileage Upgrade Award)? MUAs aren't supposed to be available on DL metal flights any more except on flights from Ghana, France, and UK.
