I did the walk from T7 to T2 a few years ago but went land-side. I don't remember it being particularly long or difficult. There is a walkway that leads across the center section at ground level. That was before the resent construction in the T1/T2 area so I don't know if anything has changed.
I find the walk from T1 to T7 really easy. The bottleneck is waiting for the lights to change.
Chances are that a lot of people making the trip from T7 to T2 will have bags to check, in which case the tunnels aren’t an option. It’s easy to take the elevator up to the checkin level to find a luggage cart; the lower parking level—which has loads of limos—usually has a lot of carts. I hate paying for those things!
