I had a positive experience yesterday booking a cash one-way J flight on QR through AS's website. Here's what I found, although it took booking the ticket to sort out the finer details:

The ticket was slightly more expensive on AS's website for an R booking class ticket (~$200). However, there are a couple upsides. First, I was able to make seat selections on QR's website post-booking and I was not charged (you have to pay to select seats when purchasing an R ticket directly through QR). This effectively canceled out the price difference. AS also clearly marked the flight as "fully refundable", which if you purchase R through QR there is a fee to cancel for a refund (I don't know what that fee is).

I see this as a no-brainer to book through AS given the 100% additional EQMs and slightly better terms at the same cost. But obviously most current flight options on AS are not coming up this favorably.

Note: I'd add that what I bought is technically not an "Alaska Marketed Flight", per the discussion thread name. But I purchased it on AS's website and from my interpretation of the earn rules next year, there is no functional earn differential on a flight purchased on AS's website to an "Alaska Marketed Flight" purchased on AS's website (at least for this carrier and the flight I purchased). I could be wrong on my interpretation of the new rules.
