I'm assuming this is a cash (not award) ticket?

The only time I've seen it when I'm flying on an airline and paying to select seats - it'll do an auth charge of the whole amount, that will drop off, then later it'll post to my account with the ticket in one charge and each seat selection charge separately. However, given your stated status in your bio, I'm guessing you didn't have to pay.

My guess is that it's a currency conversion issue or something where the final amount has changed. I would call AA.
