Absolutely, but "If" is doing a lot of work there ... Not sure AirTags are much use for identifying a particular bag in a big pile of black bags I'm afraid ... it's still going to be a case of the people processing the bags scanning the bar codes on the tags one by one I imagine ... can't see this being much more than "placebo" effect on the short term with existing AirTag and similar devices ?
I doubt that is it the case that the Baggage Tracing team methodically plods through the procedure without thought. I imagine that if they could shift a certain volume of bags for a quick win they'd take it. There are a lot of people at BA who go above and beyond.
