Wine list
Champagne
• 2013 Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs, Taittinger, Frankreich
James Bond once said in Casino Royale: “Give me Taittinger Blanc de Blancs... It’s not very well known, but it’s the best champagne in the world.” Bond was talking about Comtes de Champagne, a champagne legend made from 100% Chardonnay grapes from Grand Cru vineyards. A superb, elegant champagne that, after 10 years of bottle ageing, delights the palate and touches the soul with its refreshing citrus fruit aromas and notes of brioche.
• Champagne Fleur de Miraval – ER2 – Exclusively Rosé,Frankreich
ER2 is the second edition of Fleur de Miraval, a premium Rosé Champagne from Brad Pitt and the Perrin family. This excellent Rosé Champagne is made from 75% Chardonnay from several vintages as well as 25% Pinot Noir. The bouquet of wild berries and white flowers with a touch of smokiness is highly complex. Just as fascinating is its finely sparkling mousse on the palate with hints of citrus fruits and almond, before the long finish fades away with a wonderful chalky minerality.
Aperitif
• Campari
• Sherry Apóstoles Palo Cortado Muy Viejo V.O.R.S.
• AVIONIC Ein Klassiker neu interpretiert.
Ushering in a new golden age of travel: Lufthansa, Ziegler Distillery, & The Tiny Cup bar in Frankfurt present the Avionic aperitif, Lufthansa’s twist on the classic inflight cocktail. Taste juicy peaches with fresh citrus notes, wild and floral meadow herbs that unite harmoniously with marigold to provoke a long sweetness with a pleasant bitter note and a hint of acidity - all combined with tonic to create the perfect long-distance accompaniment. A true zeitgeist of travel & taste.
White Wine and Rosé
• 2021 Riesling Großes Gewächs, Münsterer Dautenpflänzer, Kruger-Rumpf, Nahe, Deutschland
The impressive Münsterer Kapellenberg vineyard is located near Bingen, not far from where the Nahe river flows into the Rhine. The heart of the vineyard is the top site of Dautenpflänzer, shaped like an amphitheater, characterised by soils of loess and weathered slate. Georg Rumpf’s Riesling GG really impressed us with its ripe fruit, mineral intensity and concentrated aromas.
• 2023 Pinot Blanc Reserve, Weingut Wegeler, Rheingau, Deutschland
Julius Wegeler established his estate in 1882 and the family business is now run by the fourth generation. The Wegeler family owns three well-known wineries in the Rhine and Mosel. This Pinot Blanc Reserve comes from the Rheingau and is matured in large wooden barrels. On the palate it shows delicate apple fruit, elegant weight and a touch of minerality. This is a classic and delicious Pinot Blanc.
• 2022 Hermitage Blanc Nobles Rives, Cave de Tain, Frankreich
The precipitous granite cliffs at Hermitage force the Rhône river to make a sharp change in direction and plays a part in shaping the legendary wines. These steep, terraced south-facing slopes produce world-famous wines. The white Nobles Rives is made from the single variety Marsanne: a powerful, charming wine with flavours of ripe mirabelle plums as well as a striking minerality that lingers on the palate for a very long time.
• 2022 Isabella Chardonnay, Muratie, Südafrika
Kim and Rijk Melck, the owners of Muratie, named this Chardonnay after their lovely daughter Isabella. The wine is fermented in 500 litre oak barrels and matured there for a further 10 months. The result is an exciting wine with aromas of tropical fruit, combined with finesse, freshness, structure and complexity on the palate, ending in a long finish. A worthy winner of the customer wine tasting.
Red Wine
• 2019 Cold Creek Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, Château Ste. Michelle, USA
The Cold Creek Vineyard, established in 1973, is one of the oldest and most renowned vineyards in Washington. In the sun-drenched climate with low rainfall, the old vines produce small berries with an intense flavour. The 18-month aging in small barrels strengthens the structure of this dark, powerful wine, which leaves a lasting impression with ripe fruit and chocolate notes.
• 2019 The Collection Petit Verdot, Glen Carlou, Südafrika
It is rare to find single variety wines from the late-ripening Petit Verdot. Only where Petit Verdot can ripen to perfection it produces great wines with concentrated tannins. Glen Carlou in Paarl does this excellently: intense, bright blackberry fruit with fine toasty aromas combine to create a generous red wine that ends in a long finish with notes of spice and dark chocolate.
• 2016 Château La Tour Figeac, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classé, Bordeaux, Frankreich
La Tour Figeac borders Figeac and Cheval Blanc, both classified as 1er Grand Cru Classé. It has the same gravelly terroir that is typical of only the best châteaux in Pomerol and St. Emilion. The Rettenmaier family cultivates the land according to biodynamic principles. The wine – a cuvée of Merlot and Cabernet Franc – from the top 2016 vintage shows great cherry and blueberry fruit as well as elegance and finesse. This is an expressive wine which is full of character.
• 2017 Pétalos del Bierzo, Descendientes de J. Palacios, Spanien
Alvaro Palacios, Spain’s most famous winemaker, has not only rediscovered the Priorat, but also the Bierzo region in Spain’s cool north-west corner. There, together with his nephew Ricardo, he produces world-famous wines from the Mencia grape variety on terraced, high-altitude vineyards of slate soil. His Petalos combines the power of wines from Priorat with the finesse of great Burgundy as well as the spiciness of the Rhône in an inimitable way.
Dessert Wine
• 2023 Riesling Grünlack Spätlese, Schloss Johannisberg, Rheingau, Deutschland
Wine has been produced at Schloss Johannisberg for 1200 years, with Riesling being the only grape variety since 1720. Riesling at its most beautiful is when it has natural sweet fruitiness. No other grape variety in the world is able to convey so many aromas and so much complexity with so little alcohol and at the same time can show its origins in its taste. The Grünlack (only 8.5% alcohol) underscores this with its complex interaction of passion fruit and mango aromas as well as its great finesse.
Liqueur and Port
• Baileys Irish Cream
• Niepoort Portwein 20 Years old Tawny
Port wines are very popular on board Lufthansa flights. The elegant sweetness combined with delicate fruit aromas are often chosen as the crowning conclusion to the meal. The 20-year-aged Tawny from Niepoort was awarded a silver medal by Business Traveler magazine as part of the Cellers in the Sky competition for airlines worldwide.
Monthly proposal
• Santa Teresa 1796 Rum Speyside Whisky Cask, Limited Edition, Venezuela
Santa Teresa 1796 is testament to the more than 200 year old history of the Vollmer family, who have been refining rum production for over five generations in the Aragua Valley in Venezuela. For the first time, the company has refined its 35 year old solera-matured rum, for an additional 13 months in whisky barrels from Speyside. This is a rum that will also appeal to whisky lovers: Its aromas reveal leather, smoke, oak and subtle hints of caramel, while on the palate flavours of toffee, apricot, almond and dark chocolate create a rounded and smooth taste.
