And to think, I probably paid this bogus tax...10 times at least? As BDA said I think it only applies on booking originating in Colombia, so it's a little less of a scam by the government than maybe I originally thought. But over the years I'd paid the Canadian entry fee and then this tax multiple times, just throwing money away. The other thing, in my situation is a lot of my travel is on standby as an airline employee. That's why I end up on a lot of 1 way tickets into or out of the country, doesn't make sense to list myself for a return flight when I have no idea how I'm gonna get home. But I've now done this twice with Copa, most recently flying on their new PTY-RDU flight, I ended up buying one way each way confirmed just because it was really cheap. I asked at check-in in MDE, I got a lot less attitude this time, she paid me in cash and off I went.

So thanks to BDA Shorts for saving us all some cash.
