Edit: One question: for partner bookings (specifically BA), it seems that the reservation picks up OW status based on the FF number and then allows things like seat selection. If mrs. brp is Sapphire (LT Plat), will it still allow both of us to pick seats right at booking by noting that one of the people on the itinerary is Emerald, even if the FFN of the other person is Sapphire? Or will I have to call to have this recognized? Never faced this situation before
Cheers.
You should be able to get Emerald setting if one person in the PNR is Emerald. Emerald status does make a difference for advanced seating. Example - on Qantas and Japan Airlines and British Airways - in Business class - as Emerald you can get seats in the forward section. Like on JL - on 773 - there is one row J mini cabin behind First Class. Only Emerald can get those. On QF - the forward section of Business on A380 - on Emerald can get those seats - which is why they call it Emerald Aisle.
