PSA: LifeMiles ticket with infant - always check LifeMiles' work

I redeemed miles for three tickets, two adults and one child. With LifeMiles there is no difference in cost for an adult ticket or child ticket. If it's 10,000 miles for an adult, it's 10,000 miles for a child (whereas buying with cash, the child ticket is usually like 40% cheaper). You have to associate the passport with the ticket so it's not like the ticket is identified as an adult. I only mention this because the ticketing agent yesterday was confused why all three tickets appeared the same like adults. Yes I did select 2 adults + child, but it's no different than selecting 3 adults on LifeMiles website.

Anyway, per usual with lap infants and reward tickets, you have to redeem the adults/child miles tickets first and then call to buy the lap infant ticket after, which I did a month later (redeemed in August, bought the lap infant in September). Got the booking code for the infant, all's good... or so I thought.

Got to the airport yesterday and go to check-in at the computer and it turned out LifeMiles put the infant ticket on my child's ticket. As a result the system would not allow me to check-in, either online, computer or at the check-in desk. The girl behind the desk was calling her supervisor, who was contacting another person. It took them 45 minutes to figure out because they couldn't change the tickets. They essentially had to do the equivalent of cancelling the reservation and redoing it. As a result I lost my plus seats on my domestic Colombia flight and I couldn't change back because the flight was full.

Save yourself 45 minutes at check-in and check LifeMiles' work the next time you do an infant ticket. Make sure the infant is properly added to an adult ticket after the reservation is created. I have no idea why the system even allowed the infant to be added to my child's ticket or why the LifeMiles rep who did the infant ticket didn't think to ask which ticket or check, but he did put it on my child's ticket.
