It's most likely some kind of glitch related to German Airways operating the route from now til then - it seems unlikely that there is a regulatory/commercial reason for excluding these ACMI flights from mileage redemption - I'm sure a call to the service line would allow you to book normally, so please report back if you try this.
OK. the German Airways thing makes sense and I also think that it might be a glitch. I will report after Christmas. The affected flight I need to reschedule is a Christmas present to both my nephews and I probably have to change flights which would be for free one time after the schedule change. So I wait until they confirmed that they are available

But how can you explain that I don't find award availability on the longhaul flights in several cabins? I just get "Not available for this flight" for many economy, premium economy and business options while seats are still being sold.
I thought AF/KL would sell awards up to the last available seat on the plane with their dynamic pricing - Ben Lipsey , any idea what is going on?
