I'm top 3 slots on upgrade list but down to J5 on my flight on Dec 21. Could potentially maneuver flights to get on the day before which has J9. Talked to GS agent about my chances and she said "pretty good" but I'm not as convinced given its down to J5. Moving the flight earlier a day is going to cost $$$ plus if I don't get upgraded, current seat map doesn't have 3 seats next to each other if we get stuck in econ.

Thoughts?
The current seat map doesn’t appear to even have 3 J seats together. The day before (12/20) only shows J4 now. I think there is a small chance you get upgraded on 12/21 but I think you’re going to be stuck with separate seats, no matter the outcome.

FWIW I would never take an agent’s advice on how likely you are to get upgraded. A 1K agent convinced a relative of mine to buy a W fare because his GPU (back in the day) was more likely to clear on SFO-SIN…and of course it didn’t. I would venture to guess that many of us on FT watch fare buckets religiously and understand better than UA’s frontline employees (who are not paying attention to this stuff) how likely an upgrade may be.
