Technically the CRJ type certificate now belongs to MHI RJ Aviation Group in Boisbriand,QC, a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.
So,
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Regional Jet Aviation Group Canadair Regional Jet 900 is technically the full name? but yes, Canadair Regional Jet has just simply become CRJ. There's no mention of MHI or RJ being abbreviations either.
A few other sites/airlines also refer the CRJ as Mitsubishi CRJ, but some do not. I don't believe there's a general consensus about what to call them.
I guess unlike the Dash 8, the CRJ is a completely dead product and MHI RJ doesn't really care about the branding since they are not selling any new planes, the Bombardier name lives on.
They are happy (maybe not very happy) about servicing Bombardier branded products as an OEM.
Similar to how MD-90 was still a McDonnell Douglas plane but the MD-95 (717), F-15, C-17 had all became Boeings.
