It should be noted that employee travel is internally regulated pretty heavily, from things like behavior to dress code. We can only assume that there are more internal restrictions (like no hidden city/etc). Some here may know the rules, but most don't. And the some people that "may know" do not talk about it here in the public forums. I would really suggest that you temper your enthusiasm, and wait for your friend to return, and direct questions ONLY to them.
My advice may seem alarmist, but we have seen it many times (on UA and others) where a sponsored "friend" pushes too hard on their own, or asks "too many" questions, and it has put the employees benefits in jeopardy.
