Honestly, for those of us accustomed to rural France and earning a european salary, the prices for everything in the US (sauf carburant) are practically unaffordable.

When my parents and others whine that prices ex-USA to Europe are more expensive than the opposite direction, I point out simply "well, you guys have more pouvoir d'achat".
