Thanks to all those that responded to clarify the rule. Since that is the rule, I’m fine to keep thing as is and not planning to circumvent.

There are a couple of other Hyatt properties nearby so I might explore switching the award cert nights to a different property and just keep the points nights at the current venue so I can apply the Club Access. A bit of an inconvenience but one of the nearby venues is just opening so might be interesting to check out.
