I seem to recall that the walk to the Elizabeth line and the HEX stations at T3 is shorter than the walk to the Picadilly line station.
It seems appears that on the day of travel, the Elizabeth line only has two trains per hour to T5 while HEX operates every 15 minutes and the Piccadilly line every 10 minutes.
The Elizabeth Line and HEX use the same platform at T3, and both are free for inter-terminal transfers, so it's not an either-or choice.
