Connecting on Ethiopian on separate PNRs

My question isn't strictly about connection in ADD, but since it is related to Ethiopian, posting it here.
I plan to fly VFA-BOM and this includes connections at GBE and ADD. I am looking to book an award ticket from Aeroplan but the only way to fly business on this sector (on my preferred date of travel) is booking separate tickets from VFA to GBE and GBE to BOM (Via ADD). The connection at GBE is 55 minutes but I believe one doesn't get off the plane (operated by Ethiopian) - Aeroplan itinerary in fact doesn't even show a stop at GBE (rather a direct over 7 hour flight from VFA to ADD). Here's what I can do:
- Book an award ticket from VFA to GBE
- On a separate PNR, book an award ticket from GBE to BOM
Q 1. Will Ethiopian staff at VFA through check in my bag (to BOM) and issue me boarding cards for the entire journey
Q2. In case the answer to above is yes, do I deplane at GBE, get the boarding card scanned and board the aircraft back?

I hold an Indian passport and therefore not eligible for VoA at GBE/ Botswana

Will appreciate any inputs from past experiences.

Thanks,
R
