Does one method seem advantageous? I know MQD earned is an upgrade tiebreaker, but it says "current calendar year" - is that the previous 365 days, or literally the 2025 year? It'd make more sense if it was the previous 365 days, since everyone starts at 0 on day one.
What sydneyracquelle said: taking the MQDs will give you DM as earned status. Taking the status extension will give you DM as "gifted"/"deemed" status. It really only makes a difference if you need the DM CBs sooner than 01 February 2025. The total MQD as upgrade tiebreaker is so far down the queue that it's probably not worth worrying about.
