You only have to look at the recent SK switch to ST. They set a date and on that day everything switched off for *A and on for ST (save for some teething issues having other ST members reciprocate).
Damn, good point, I didn't really know how the SK thing went down. Seems like it's probably not worth chasing the status renewal then. Even if I got 2 years Skyteam elite status, I don't fly on their carriers much and the way DL polices their own employees and their lounge I'm not sure they'd let me in (I don't work for them) on a standby BP or for how much longer.
